Removal

1.	Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

2.	If necessary, release the wiper blade fixing clip by pulling up and remove the wiper blade from the inside radius (A) of wiper arm.

3.	Remove the cowl top cover. (Refer to Body - "Cowl Top Cover")

4.	Disconnect the wiper motor connector (A).

5.	Remove the wiper motor & linkage assembly (A) after loosening the mounting bolts.

Hold the wiper motor crank arm and remove the upper linkage (A).

•	Before removing the wiper motor and linkage assembly, make sure that the linkage is stopped at auto stop position.

•	To correctly install the wiper motor crank arm, check that the linkage is aligned with the crank arm in straight line and check the angle of each linkage.

•	Be careful not to bend the linkage.

Remove the lower linkage (A) from the wiper motor crank arm.

•	To correctly install the wiper motor crank arm, check that the linkage is aligned with the crank arm in straight line and check the angle of each linkage.

•	Be careful not to bend the linkage.

8.	Remove the crank arm (B) after loosening a nut (A).

9.	Remove the wiper motor grommet (A).

10.	Remove the wiper motor bracket (A) after loosening the bolts.

11.	Remove the wiper motor (B) from the tube (A).

Installation

1.	Install the wiper motor.

Install the crank arm.

Tightening torque :

13.0 - 13.5 N·m (1.33 - 1.38 kgf·m, 9.6 - 10.0 lb·ft)

To install the wiper motor crank arm, make sure that the linkage is aligned with the crank arm in straight line and set the angle of each linkages exactly.

3.	Install the lower and upper linkage to the wiper motor crank arm.

Install the wiper motor and linkage assembly and then connect the wiper motor connector.

Tightening torque :

6.9 - 10.8 N·m (0.7 - 1.1 kgf·m, 5.1 - 8.0 lb·ft)

5.	Install the cowl top cover.

Install the windshield wiper arm and blade.

Tightening torque :

22.5 - 26.5 N·m (2.3 - 2.7 kgf·m, 16.6 - 19.5 lb·ft)

The windshield wiper motor must be cycled to make sure that it is in the park position.

If necessary, adjust the wiper arm and blade.

7.	Install the wiper arm and blade to the specified position. Auto stop position (Blade)

Inspection

Remove the connector from the wiper motor.

5	Wiper speed (High)

2.	Attach the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 3 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1.

Inspection (With KDS/GDS)

In the body electrical system, failure can be quickly diagnosed by using the vehicle diagnostic system (KDS/GDS).

The diagnostic system(KDS/GDS) provides the following information.

(1)	Self diagnosis : Checking failure and code number (DTC)

(2)	Current data : Checking the system input/output data state

(3)	Actuation test : Checking the system operation condition

(4)	Additional function : Controlling other features including system option setting and zero point adjustment

2.	Select the 'Car model' and the 'Body Control Module (BCM)' to be checked in order to check the vehicle with the tester.

3.	Select the 'Current Data' menu to search the current state of the input/output data.
