Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.

To avoid damage, unplug the wiring connectors carefully while
holding the connector portion.
|
|
|
Mark all wiring and hoses to avoid misconnection.
|
| 1. |
Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
|
| 2. |
Remove the engine cover.
(Refer to Engine and Transaxle Assembly - "Engine Cover")
|
| 3. |
Disconnect the wiring connectors and harness clamps and remove the connector
brackets around the cylinder head cover.

|
| 4. |
Remove the air cleaner assembly.
(Refer to Intake and Exhaust System - "Air Cleaner")
|
| 5. |
Remove the ignition coils.
(Refer to Engine Electrical System - “Ignition Coil”)
|
| 6. |
Disconnect the fuel hose (A) and purge control solenoid valve (PCSV)
hose (B).

| 7. |
Loosen the vacuum & purge control solenoid valve (PCSV) pipe assembly
(A) mounting bolts and nut and then remove the high pressure fuel pipe
(B).

| 8. |
Remove the high pressure fuel pump.
(Refer to Engine Control/Fuel System - "High Pressure Fuel Pump")

| 9. |
Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose (A).

| 10. |
Remove the cylinder head cover (A).

Install cylinder head cover.

The hardening sealant located on the upper area between timing
chain cover and cylinder head should be removed before assembling
cylinder head cover.
|

After applying sealant, it should be assembled within 5 minutes.
|
Bead width : 4 mm (0.16 in.)
|

Install the cylinder head cover (A) by tightening the bolts
as following method.
|
Tightening torque :
1st step : 3.9 - 5.9 N·m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf·m, 2.9 - 4.3
lb·ft)
2nd step : 7.8 - 9.8 N·m (0.8 - 1.0 kgf·m, 5.8 - 7.2
lb·ft)

Do not reuse cylinder head cover gasket.
|

• |
The firing and/or blow out test should not be
performed within 30 minutes after the cylinder
head cover was assembled.

Install the other parts in the reverse order of removal.
